CALA's third school, located in the coastal lowland on the southern coast near Usulutan, El Salvador.
CALA's second school, perched high in the mountain community of Argentina located on El Salvador's central coast.
Our first school nestled between jungle and farmland in the Aguacayo community near Teotepeque, El Salvador.

The kitchen area where a meal of rice and beans is prepared for the children over an open fire. There was an urgent need for renovations for both safety and sanitation concerns.
The CALA Foundation raised $5,000 to fully renovate a functional kitchen space.

The new kitchen was installed in April 2025 complete with a new propane gas cooktop, stanless steel food prep area, wash area with running water, and new pots and cookware. Storage shelves provide a sanitary place to store dry supplies. The mothers of the pre-k class cook lunch for the students on a rotating schedule.

The common areas where the kids eat and play was unusable during the rainy season due to the severe disrepair of the roof. The broken concrete and rough terrain created a hazard for the children as they played.

The CALA Foundation, along with our partners at Paraiso Escondido, installed a new roof over both common areas and poured a new concrete surface to restore a usable space for the kids to eat lunch, have outdoor class time, and play.

The common area roof was rusted out and the concrete surface was in disrepair. We were able to fund the project and utilize local tradesmen to complete the work through our partners at Paraiso Escondido in El Salvador.

With the new roof and concrete surfacing, the students have a place to hold assemblies, play, and gather safely!

This picture shows the overgrown area to the right of the kitchen, just off the common assembly area. The older kids play soccer in the common area during recess leaving the littles no place to play outside. We converted this unused space into a covered play area for kids pre-k and up.

The area was cleared, turf surface installed, and a new covered roof to protect from rain and sun! Many of the student's parents contributed their time to help clear the rough terrain of trees and rocks to prep the surface. It is now an area of excitement and safe play!
